Why are Goths so Fascinated by the Macabre?

Below is a video I filmed a while ago about what draws goths towards death and the macabre. We all know that the culture is synonymous with the macabre and the dark, but why is that? What is the reasoning and the psychology behind a mind fascinated by death, and how does this play into our daily lives?
